What is Medicare Insurance?
You may have heard the term medicare insurance before, but what does that mean? keep reading to learn what medicare insurance is and what you need to know about it.
Medicare is the largest health insurance program in the United States. It is run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a government agency.
To join Medicare, you must be 65 years or older, be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and you or your spouse had to have paid medicare texases when you were working.
There are two parts to medicare insurance, Part A which is hospital insurance, and Part B which is medical insurance. Part A covers your care when you stay in the hospital. This part has no monthly fee or premium but you are responsible for paying a portion of the cost. Pary B covers doctor office services like tests and outpatient hospital services. This part has a monthly fee as well as a shared cost.
Since Medicare does not cover 100% of costs, there are medicare supplement plans available as well.
