Are Fertility Treatments Right For You?
Many women dream of growing up, marrying the man of her dreams and then starting a family of her own. However, sometimes these dreams are more difficult to achieve than what was first thought. Some women may find that their chances of conceiving a child is little to none, and that the entire process is very difficult. Infertility can bring up emotions of anxiety, regret and shame. Treatments can help with increasing fertility, but can take a lot of the fun out of the process. Fortunately, women do have options when it comes to low fertility rates to still begin that family they have always dreamed of.
There are many things that can lead to infertility. For one thing, both members of the couple are needed to conceive a child. All it takes is one medical problem or hormonal imbalance for conception to not occur. Approximately one third of infertility is attributed to the female partner, one third attributed to the male partner and one third is caused by a combination in both partners, or is unexplained. Sometimes a reason for infertility simply cannot be identified.
The first step that couples will experience when visiting a Michigan fertility clinic is a series of tests. These tests will look at hormonal levels and sperm counts. They may include a series of blood tests and imaging tests. These tests give the fertility expert a better idea of what is causing the infertility.
This information will then be shared with the couple. They will be given their options, based on the results. Fortunately, with advances in science and technology, there are many, low risk procedures available that will increase the chances of fertility. The Michigan fertility center will thoroughly go over each of these procedures, including hormone replacement therapy, artificial insemination and intro vito fertility treatment. These procedures may be in the form of medicines or surgical procedures.
One of the biggest downfalls of the fertility treatment options is the cost. Any type of fertility treatment can be very expensive. The procedures may not always work on the first try either, quickly raising the costs of the procedures. In the past, most fertility centers had to be paid out of pocket, with many insurance companies choosing not to pay for this optional procedure. Today, more and more states have passed laws requiring insurance companies to pay a portion of the infertility treatment fees. In fact, 15 states have passed laws requiring that insurance policies cover some level of infertility treatment, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas and West Virginia. It is possible that over the next few years, more and more states will require insurance companies to cover a portion of these treatments.
Some couples may also be hesitant to seek the services of a Michigan fertility clinic because of feelings of shame and regret. They may be embarrassed that they were unable to conceive a child on their own. However, many couples will have trouble with conception at some time in their life. A CDC study analyzed data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth and found that 7.5% of all sexually experienced men younger than age 45 reported seeing a fertility doctor during their lifetime, this equals to 3.3 to 4.7 million men. Other couples are focusing more on their careers and choosing to start families later in life, thus decreasing their chances of conception without Michigan fertility treatments.
Many women dream of the day they will start their own family. However, many of these women are met with difficulty conceiving. Fortunately, with advances in technology and science, there are procedures that can increase the chances of conception, depending on the specific problem. Many states have passed laws that require insurance companies pay a portion of the fertility treatments. People should not feel ashamed with having to visit fertility clinics, as many couples will find difficulty in conceiving.
